Nuntiatoria is published within the apostolic life of the Old Roman Apostolate (ORA), while retaining an editorial character broader than internal institutional reporting. Its work reflects the ORA’s commitment to the received Catholic Faith, traditional Roman liturgy, pastoral formation, and public witness, while addressing questions of Church, culture, law, and society for a wider readership.

The title derives from the Latin nuntiare — “to announce” or “to proclaim”. It expresses the journal’s purpose precisely: to report what has happened, to examine what it means, to measure claims against truth and tradition, and, where necessary, to warn. Nuntiatoria is therefore neither a vehicle for personal opinion nor a collection of devotional impressions. It seeks to combine serious journalism with theological judgment, historical memory, and pastoral responsibility.

Its articles, editorials, homilies, pastoral reflections, and analytical essays address the life of the Church and the wider world with particular attention to:

• Catholic doctrine and its distortion or obscuring in the modern age;
• Church governance, authority, discipline, and accountability;
• liturgical theology and continuity with the received Roman tradition;
• cultural, legal, educational, and political developments affecting Christian life;
• questions of religious liberty, safeguarding, freedom of speech, and the moral order;
• ideological movements and intellectual errors that undermine faith, reason, human dignity, and the common good.

Nuntiatoria writes consciously from within the Catholic intellectual tradition. Its natural sources are Sacred Scripture, the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, the scholastic tradition, the great spiritual writers, the authoritative Magisterium, and the accumulated experience of Christian civilisation. It rejects the reduction of Catholicism to sentiment, party politics, institutional loyalty detached from truth, or activism without doctrine.

The journal is also deliberately attentive to history. Many contemporary controversies become clearer when the Church’s memory is allowed to speak. Liturgical innovation, doctrinal ambiguity, ecclesiastical governance, relations between Church and State, and the recurring temptations of political and theological fashion cannot adequately be understood within the narrow horizon of a news cycle. Nuntiatoria therefore seeks not merely to report events but to place them within the longer continuity of Catholic thought and experience.

Its criticism is not undertaken for the sake of controversy. Where error, contradiction, injustice, negligence, or abuse of authority requires examination, Nuntiatoria will examine it. Where something worthy deserves defence, it will defend it. Where the facts complicate an easy narrative, the facts must prevail. The object is neither outrage nor reassurance, but clarity.

Nuntiatoria is edited by HE ✠Jerome Lloyd, Titular Archbishop of Selsey and Primus of the Old Roman Apostolate.

A priest and bishop formed within the traditional Roman Catholic inheritance, ✠Jerome combines pastoral ministry with writing, teaching, broadcasting, and public engagement. His work has long centred upon the preservation and transmission of the received Catholic Faith, the traditional Roman liturgy, and the application of Christian doctrine to the moral, cultural, and civic questions of the present age.

Alongside his ecclesiastical responsibilities, he has been involved for many years in civic, community, and faith-sector work, particularly in the fields of religious freedom, safeguarding, education, community cohesion, and the defence of freedom of conscience and expression. This experience informs Nuntiatoria’s concern not only with matters internal to the Church, but also with the wider legal, political, and cultural conditions in which Christians are called to live and bear witness.

Since 2008, he has also overseen the development of Old Roman TV, through which the Traditional Latin Mass, homilies, catechesis, spiritual conferences, and other pastoral material are made available to a dispersed international audience, including the housebound and those without regular access to the traditional liturgy.
